Katie: Horsemanship Coordinator

Prior to joining Missionary Staff in 2013, Katie first served on Fort summer staff and then as an intern. Katie loves horses and seeing how God’s handiwork, authority, and love for us are displayed in them … and at Fort.

Fast Facts

She is a twin and the second oldest of seven children.

What passage of scripture is meaningful to you? My favorite Bible verse is Zephaniah 3:17: “The LORD your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior, He will exult over you with joy, He will quiet you by His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.”

What is your favorite Fort memory? One of my favorite Fort memories is sitting in the grass with a group of kids, petting the Bandit (the old Stables dog) and talking about how his life at camp was an example of Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, to those who are called according to His purposes.” Bandit only had one eye and the kids, very sweetly, were lamenting his misfortune and I told them to stop, because God had worked gloriously through this hard thing. You see when Bandit lost his eye he wasn’t wanted by his old owners and the Broods found an ad in the paper and went and brought him home. And he was used by God to tell many people about Jesus; none of which would have happened if he hadn’t lost his eye.

If you were a kitchen utensil, what would you be and why? A paring knife because they are sharp, versatile, and useful.
