Each Summer Fort Wilderness utilizes hundreds of volunteers and leaders to help minister to our family and youth campers at our three sites: Main Camp, Adventure Outpost and Leadership Lab. There are a wide variety of areas to serve in: camp counselor, kitchen (Dishcrew and Cooks), maintenance, accommodations, lifeguards, program, Staff RAs, Nature Center, Woodshop Teachers... and many more!

Summer Volunteer Requirements

Age – At least 15 years old at time of service
Commitment – One or more weeks (full summer commitment = 9 weeks). The amount of time you wish to commit is up to you. We only ask that you arrange your arrival/departure times around Camp's weekly schedule (Saturday to Friday).
Special Skills/Experience – No special skills or experience is requried to volunteer. If you do have experience or special skills in a particular area, please let us know. Also if you wish to volunteer in a particular area, let us know so we can place you appropriately.

Summer Staff Leader Requirements

There are 60 leadership positions available each summer.
Age – At least 17 years old (see Job Descriptions for specific area age requirements, some areas require a minimum of 21)
Commitment – All summer commitment = 8 to 12 weeks, depending on position (May 28th to August 16th)
Special Skills/Experience – see Job Descriptions for specific requirements. Not all areas of service require prior experience or special skills.
